McVeigh Stretches Over Night Lead to 18 seconds
Paddy McVeigh holds a 18 second over night lead going into day 2 of the Wexford Volkswagen Stages Rally. He leads fellow Subaru driver Steve Wood, who in turn is 15 seconds advantage over Enda O’Brien. Garry Kiernan is breathing hard down the neck of O’Brien with only 2 seconds separating the two Ford Escorts Adrian Hetherington is 38 seconds further back but has over a minute and a half to spare over Keven Barret. 12 seconds further back is Micheal Conlon in 7th who has 34 seconds to spare over Patrick McHugh. Thomas Davis is only 9 seconds further back in 9th but has Richard more breathing down his neck 5 seconds further back in 10th place. 10th place is not secure as Simon Reid is only 2 seconds behind him. On a local note Graham Scallan is in 12th 23 seconds further back waiting to pick up the pieces should a battle in front of him end in tears. In a rally that has had 3 different leaders, a rare occurrence in Wexford, we wonder how different the top 10 will look after tomorrow 6 stages. If tomorrow is as exciting as today, 2016 will be one of the best rallies for many a long year.
