Wood 46″ clear with only Ballymurn left.

Posted by:

Unless the world ends, or his luck for that matter, Steve Wood has retained hi crown as the Wexford Volkswagon stages rally winner. He is 46″ clear of Ian Barrett who is following at this stage onto the podium along what it looks like will be Gary Kiernan in 3rd despite the best efforts of Stephen McCann. John Bonner will finish 5th, he reappeared onto the timesheets despite it looking like Richard Moore was going to finish there, the ...

Steve home and dry with 3 stages left, touch Wood

Posted by:

Steve Wood has all but won the Wexford Volkswagon stages rally barring some accident or breakdown. His lead is now 46″ from Ian Barrett who has told us coming into service he is more than welcome to hold on to what he has, a nice place on the podium and some nice trophies. the battle that is for 3rd has really made the wait on the ditches for the fans worth it. Gary Kiernan is now sitting jst 7″ ...

Wood now 45″ clear with four stages to go

Posted by:

Without putting the hex on Steve Wood, he looks like he has all but wrapped up the title for 2017, we will try get some reaction from him as he comes in for his final service. Ian Barrett looks nailed on for 2nd, but hey, we have a battle royal going on behind these two for 3rd. Gary Kiernan took 4″ from Stephen McCann and now the gap between the two is down to 5″, that gap in four ...

Wood increases the lead by another second.

Posted by:

Steve Wood is inching ever closer to retaining his Wexford crown as he took another second out of Ian Barrett, but for good measure, our 3rd place man, Stephen McCann, decided to match the rally leader on the short Screen stage, the shortest of the rally. Tyre choice could be the thing that might have most bearing on this loop of stages as the roads were drying as the cars left us here in service but a few mist ...

More meat on the bones of the times from SS9

Posted by:

We have more times in now and seem to be able to sort out drivers going missing etc. Richard Moore has appeared back on the timesheet, as has Liam Howlett, albeit way down the field. Most of the field have been given a nominal time after the stoppage on SS9, but Howlett seems to be carrying a time more than the nominal, maybe he was the hold up and he is the unfortunate loser in the stoppage, more on ...

Wood increases the lead to 40″

Posted by:

Steve Wood has posted the fastest time on the final stage of the first loop and increased the lead to 40″. Ian Barrett has kept safely in 2nd with Stephen McCann taking more time out of Gary Kiernan in 4th. After not being able to find Richard Moore on SS8, Liam Howlett has gone missing from the results screen on SS9, Leon Galvin now seems to have the mantle of leading local. If we see either of these two, ...

Wood and Barrett match on SS8, but a few changes behind them.

Posted by:

The first batch of times are hitting us from the Blackwater test, Wood and Barrett match times but the changes seem to be happening behind them. Stephen McCann has gone ahead of Gary Kiernan into 3rd, McCann setting the fastest time here, and so far, we don’t have a time for Richard Moore. Liam Howlett has hit  hard on this test and moved clear of Joe Connolly and John Reddington and is closing in on John Bonner. Leon Galvin ...

Barrett takes 5″ back from Wood

Posted by:

Early times in from SS7, Ian Barrett has taken 5″ back from Steve Wood on the opening test of the morning but still trails by 36″, a load more stages to sort things out during the day, the long Oylegate stage being a tasty finish to proceedings. The other significant move is that John Bonner has taken 5″ from Richard Moore and moved ahead of him by 1″. Liam Howlett and Joe Connolly are matching each other so all ...
