Stafford almost home

Posted by:

James Stafford is within touching distance of the win now, even able to give a bit of time away to Stephen McCann on the last run through Quitchey and still leave nearly two minutes of a gap back to the leading 4WD car. Wesley Patterson is all but assured of 4rd but the battle royale could be behind him between Leon Galvin and Tomás O’Rourke for 4th & 5th. There is only 6″ gap between the two and the ...

Stafford getting ever nearer

Posted by:

James Stafford is getting ever nearer his 3rd Wexford win taking just over 4″ more out of Stephen McCann. The big news is that we can’t see Richie Moore on the time sheet after the second spin around Ardinagh, what has happened here, we will try to find out, maybe just trying to push too hard to get second place. Wesley Patterson seems to be good for 3rd place with Tomás O’Rourke closing in on Leon Galvin for 4th. ...

Stafford tightening the grip After SS12

Posted by:

With three stages to go in the rally, James Stafford is edging that little bit closer to his third win of the Wexford rally. He took almost 14″ out of Stephen McCann on the second pass through Quitchery, no overshoot mistake like on the first attempt. Richie Moore is also putting the squeeze on McCann as he came within a whisker of matching Stafford’s time and the gap is now down to 27″ for the second spot on the ...

All change on SS11

Posted by:

In a morning that has been full of drama, we have already seen two lead changes in two stages that have happened so far this morning. You may have seen earlier that James Stafford had a woeful time on SS10, talking to him in service this was caused by a rather time consuming overshoot where he elected to do this rather than take a bend he was coming in too hard to and possibly not be able to take ...

Purcell powers ahead on SS10

Posted by:

Not the start to day 2 of the rally that our overnight leader wanted, only 6th fastest on SS10, ironically the nearest stage of the rally to his home, and what was a lead of 4.2″ has now turned in to a deficit of 14.6″. Richard Moffett was also a big loser on this test, he has dropped three places. More later

Stafford storms SS9

Posted by:

The old saying of there being many a slip between cup and lip is very true. The slip in this instance is the slip that Andrew Purcell had with his car on the last stage of the day, well a spin to be more precise. It turned an 11″ advantage into just over 4″ of a deficit, not something he would have been thinking of overnight. Having said that, he was just happy to have made James Stafford work ...

Nip and tuck at the top

Posted by:

In a game of swings and roundabouts, the lead had opened out to just over 11″ again with Andrew Purcell increasing the lead by 7.5″ on SS8. Given that Stafford has been quicker on the Balcarrag on the two previous passes, by 8″ on the previous pass, the lead could well be down to just a small few seconds by the end of the first day. we have waited quite a few years to get such a small overnight ...

Stafford strikes back on SS6

Posted by:

As we thought might happen, James Stafford has taken a big chunk of time back on SS6, the gap is down to just over 9″, Purcell only posted the 5th fastest time on the last stage before 2nd service. Gary Kiernan as expected had gone up to 3rd, taking about 10″ out of Richard Moffett on the stage. While we wait for more cars to come out of the stage, we will give you what we think is accurate ...

Purcell pulls away on SS5

Posted by:

Andrew Purcell has stretched out the lead again on SS5, as he did on the first loop. James Stafford reckoned this particular stage doesn’t suit his car well but the last stage of the loop does so we can possibly see the gap shorten again.Richard Moffett has Gary Kiernan taking more time out of him so the battle for 3rd is by no means over. Leon Galvin has made good ground on SS4 but has dropped back a bit ...
