Gowran Festival of Speed 11th & 12th July

It gives us here at Wexford Sports & Classic Car Club enormous pleasure to invite you to be part a very special event, the first Gowran Festival of Speed, to be held at Gowran Park Racecourse, Co. Kilkenny on 11th and 12th July 2015.

This event will be the most exciting motoring event of 2015 combining the thrills and spills of motorsport, both historic and modern, with the beauty and elegance of classic cars, with a huge amount of attractions to keep everyone entertained.

The first Gowran Festival of Speed brings you many motoring firsts to keep you entertained all weekend. For the very first time in Ireland you will be able to see, live on our track, the amazing Hesketh Formula One racing car of none other than world champion James Hunt. This car won the 1975 Dutch Grand Prix driven by Hunt, and was the car used in the film Rush. As if this wasn’t an amazing enough spectacle for you, the car will be driven on our track by none other than James Hunt’s son Freddie! Something not to be missed.

For fans of rallying we bring you the largest collection of Group B rally cars ever seen in Ireland, since they were banned from the rally stages.

They will be driven as they ought to be, live on our track. We will also have great action from the Slowly Sideways crew. Famous drivers including Billy Coleman and Rosemary Smith will also be showing us how its done. We will bring you some great precision driving from some of Irelands top autotest drivers also.

We have organised a magnificent classic car show as a huge part of the event with a great display of some of the nicest classic cars in Ireland. Many clubs having confirmed that they’re coming along, and we would love to have your club as an important part of our big weekend.

As Gowran Park is a fully working racecourse and golf club it has all of the facilities that go with this, restaurants, bars, grand stands etc. We also have a dedicated camping and camper van area, and the shower and bathroom facilities of the racecourse are there for your convenience.

There will be night time entertainment such as live bands and a huge barbeque on Saturday evening. It all promises to be a lot of fun.

Once again, it would give us huge pleasure to welcome your club members to be part of making our Festival of Speed a fantastic weekend. We would welcome an email or call to let us know a rough estimate of numbers coming from your club so we can allocate a dedicated space for you.
