Pj McGrath has extended the lead he has by another four seconds. Gareth too 3" out of PJ on stage 5 only for the reverse to happen on stage 6 and by 7" at that. The upshot of this is for the lead now to go out to 39" Gareth seems more than happy to keep the gap at that, the charge may yet come as there is still ten stages left before the finish ramp.
Damien Tourish is holding station in third, but is being chased hard by David James in fourth, a gap that could be bridged in the last two tests of the day. Wesley Patterson, Neil Williams, Owen Murphy and mark Kennedy hold their places down to 8th with Brendan Comisky having Liam Wall breathing down his neck after this loop.
On a lighter note, Mr Rally himself, Dougie Hughes, celebrates his golden wedding today, the very understanding Mrs Hughes letting him out on such a big day as this. Considering 50 years ago he brought her to the Isle of Man to a GP for their honeymoon, getting down here was to be expected by her. Well done on the half century together to the two of you.
