It's a good morning for rallying here at Rally HQ as 151 eager crews are about to hit the highways and byeways of the county for the next two days. Who will lead the cars in tomorrow evening, and more to the point how many will follow, will make for great entertainment for the rally mad followers that will be found on the ditches of county Wexford. Eamon Boland will try be the first one home to creat the record number of Wexford wins, but Gareth McHale will try create a unique record of being the only second generation winner of the event, following in the footsteps of his father Austin. The withdrawal of Stephen Murphy from the start line, due to the car not being ready after the off in Donegal, will rob us of the dice we have all being waiting for since 1995. We can hope we see it next year. Also missing from the start line is Michael Barrable, but still we have one of the strongest fields for years. Will Melvyn Evans be the first Welsh winner of the event or will we have a second local winner in the shape of PJ McGrath, David James or Noel Redmond?
Could we have a dream winner of the event in the shape of a two wheel drive Darrian piloted by John Dalton? John will surely miss the dice with fellow Darrian drivers, James Stafford and Washinton James, the fore of those two having to pull out of the rally due to a dissagreement with a dog!! We wish you a speedy recovery James. With the two-whell challenge creating a huge stir in the rally community, it looks like one of the hottest Wexford rallies for years, sit back and enjoy!!!!
