The latest news from the rally this morning is that Stephen Murphy’s 20sec lead from the overnigt halt is now reduced to 3sec. Stephen told us that he had the anti-lag set wrong as he started SS9, which lost him time on the start and threw his concentration a little leading to an overshoot and spin after a straight. The conditions have been very hairy this morning, as was forecast.

Melvyn Evans seems to have consolidated his podium finishing position, but there has been plenty of action behind him. Liam Wall reckons to have lost 20sec to David James in the battle that was developing between them. Mind you David has not been without incident either. The slippy conditions led to him finishing SS9 in a novel way, backwards. His Escort having lost grip on the road coming over a humpback.

PJ McGrath’s car looked a little the worse for ware after a little off. It seemed to be carrying a round bale and was steaming a little! Plenty of work with the duck tape and radweld.
