The Gorey driver, winner of June's Fethard Rally, finished two points behind the winning Nova partnership of Kevin Dalton and Ray Fitzpatrick.

James enjoyed a spectacular run in last month's Wexford Rally, eventually coming sixth in his famous black and amber Escort.
