So to the big day, with the start ramp located outside Hotel Naomh Seosamh, through which 131 rally cars will pass through. Top seed David James is due to pass underneath the arches at 10:30, on the prowl for his maiden Wexford win. The real competition then begins, with each competitor having a practice run and three timed runs on Des Byrne's ten-mile stage, with the total of those timed runs deciding the overall and class positions at the end of the day. On a multi-stage rally, competitors are given a recce weekend, which allows them to drive the stages at road speed, so they know where they are going. However, recce is banned on single stages, meaning the practice run is the only traversing of the course allowed beforehand. Schedule details can be found here. |
