Could the opening stage of the Fethard-on-Sea Rally have been any tighter? Just over a minute divides leader David James from 20th-placed David Parle - with James thundering through the opening stage fifteen seconds quicker than his nearest rival, fellow Wexfordian Liam Wall.

James' streamed through in 9'06", with Wall timed at 9'21".

Tipperary's David Percy lies third a further two seconds back, the tightest of margins dividing him from Carlow driver John Nolan back in fourth.
