KA ARMY HEAD FOR SOUTH EASTERN CHALLENGE SHOWDOWN.

CORK, 12TH NOVEMBER 2001: Thirteen Ford KA’s will be competing on the penultimate and seventh round of the 2001 Ford Ireland KA Challenge, which takes place at the Wexford Single Stage Rally based in Rosslare on the 17th of November.

With the 2001 Ford Ireland KA Challenge Title having been won on the last round the emphasis now moves to the battle for second to fifth positions, as only seventeen points separate Barry Barrable (Dublin), Declan Magee (Enniskillen), Gerry Keyes (Limerick) and Trevor Harding ( Cashel). This battle is all the more intense as the winner of each round will receive thirty points and with over £4500 prize money still up for grabs.

The popularity and effectiveness of Irelands first and only one make Rally Challenge is underlined with three out of a total of fifteen finalists for the prestigious Motorsport Ireland "Billy Coleman " Award are all Ford KA Challenge competitors, James Travers (2001 Ford Ireland KA Challenge Champion), John Carroll ( 2001 Ford Ireland KA Challenge Champion) and Trevor Harding (currently lying in fifth position in the 2001 Ford Ireland KA Challenge). The Motorsport Ireland "Billy Coleman Award is designed to promote young Irish rally driving talent with the winner receiving £25,000 help further their prospective Motorsport careers.

The 2001 Ford Ireland Ford KA Challenge is the first, one make; manufacturer supported Challenge in the history of Irish Rallying. Designed to promote young Irish rallying talent, the Challenge is part of Ford's stairway to success that sees the Ford Motor Company providing young drivers with competitive machinery throughout their racing careers.
