Eamonn Boland is out of the Tour of Flanders having held third place. Boland was still the top Irishman after Special Stage 17, but came a cropper in SS18 at Zoning after his clutch went. The two Belgian leaders had been slowly pulling away from Boland, with Pieter Tsjoen leading Joost Boxoen by 4:36, with Boland 30 seconds behind Boxoen when his rally ended. Roy White and Michael Patterson have slipped to seventh overall after twenty special Stages, but they still remain second in Gp N, four minutes behind group leader Xavier Bouche. Brendan Kelly and Rory Kennedy are ninth overall a minute further back - third in Gp N. |
