The Crosbie Cedars Hotel Wexford Rally arrives this year with new sponsors, a higher number of entries and a new home, but one question remains the same – can anyone stop Eamonn Boland?

Organised by Wexford Motor Club, this year’s event welcomes new title sponsors in the form of Rosslare’s Crosbie Cedars Hotel, with the weekend of racing falling as usual on the third weekend of September.

Crosbie Cedars Hotel Wexford Rally 2000 will boast a maximum field of 150 – up twenty on last year – bringing the competitors over 240 miles of driving over the weekend, including 130 stage miles over a course once more devised by Clerk of the Course Pat O’Dowd and officials from Wexford Motor Club.

This year, four stages will be covered twice, with Saturday’s action concentrating on the area south of the New Ross-Wexford Road, while Sunday’s climactic stages take place north of the New Ross-Wexford Road.

Service on both days will be on the Ballinaboola Road for both days of the competition, which takes place on the 16th and 17th of September.

Eamonn Boland will head another top-class field from across Ireland and the UK as he bids for his fourth title in a row – only Miltown’s Stephen Murphy with wins from 1991-95 can claim a better record – with the Wexford driver set to debut his new Subaru Impreza 2000 in local competition.

Boland is almost certainly likely to be the man to beat again, especially following experience gained at the Network Q Rally of Great Britain late last year.

The Crosbie Cedars Hotel Wexford Rally 2000 features in five drivers championships –
o Safety Devices National Rally Championship
o Triton Showers South East Stages Championship
o West Wales Rally Spares Welsh Tarmac Championship
o Yokohama Tyres Southern Four Championship
o Wexford Motor Club Driver of the Year Championship

As with last year’s Wexford Rally and Lighthouse Rally, all the action will be featured live stage-by-stage on Wexford Motor Club’s official website – wexfordrally.tripod.com
